About Us

We believe everyone can change how they think

Shaping Shift was created for people who suspect they're getting in their own way — and want to do something about it. Not through positive thinking or motivational slogans, but through real, research-backed tools that create lasting change.

Our mission

Our mission is simple: to make the science of mindset genuinely accessible and practically useful. Too often, important psychological research stays locked in academic papers or gets reduced to a motivational quote on Instagram. We think that's a waste.

Carol Dweck's work on growth mindset is one of the most significant bodies of research in modern psychology. It has the potential to fundamentally change how people approach challenges, failure, and their own development. Our job is to translate that research into something people can actually use — in their jobs, their relationships, and their lives.

The name Shaping Shift comes from the idea that real change isn't dramatic or sudden — it's a gradual reshaping of the patterns and beliefs that have been quietly running your life.

What we're building

Our first course, Mindset Matters, is a 12-module online programme designed specifically for people with a fixed or mixed mindset. It goes well beyond explaining what growth mindset is — it gives you a structured framework for identifying your specific triggers, practising new responses in real situations, and building the kind of confidence that doesn't depend on things going well.

The course is currently in development. You can join our waitlist at shapingshift.com to be the first to know when it launches, and to receive exclusive early-bird pricing.

What we stand for

🔬

Evidence first

Everything we teach is grounded in peer-reviewed research. We don't deal in untested frameworks or feel-good theories.

🛠️

Practical over theoretical

Understanding a concept and being able to apply it are very different things. We focus on the latter.

🎯

Honest about difficulty

Real mindset change is hard work. We won't pretend otherwise — and we'll give you the tools to do it properly.

🌱

Long-term thinking

We're not interested in quick fixes. We're interested in changes that last — and that compound over time.

The research behind the course

Mindset Matters is based on the work of Carol S. Dweck, Professor of Psychology at Stanford University, whose decades of research established that the beliefs people hold about their own abilities profoundly shape their behaviour, their resilience, and their long-term outcomes.

Dweck's research has been replicated across cultures, age groups, and domains — from classrooms and sports teams to boardrooms and relationships. It remains one of the most robust and widely applied bodies of work in the field of human motivation.

You can read more about the research in our blog articles on what a growth mindset is, how fixed and growth mindsets differ, and what the science actually says.
